After much planning, we began a major renovation on our Pittsford home in August, 2012. Prior to that date, we had spent a great deal of time with the architect and modified the plan several times before finally settling on the look and functionality we wanted. We also spent a good bit of time meeting with various builders and contractors to determine the company with whom we wanted to work. Our due diligence process was pretty thorough and we finally decided upon Louis J. Grossi, represented by the late Mr. Grossi’s son, Steve Grossi. Before even signing a contract, Steve met with us and the architect, Jim Fahy, several times over a several-months period to answer questions and make recommendations. He and his associate, Scott Ehle, were very professional (and very patient) and we were finally ready to move out of the house and move forward with the demolition and construction.
Now that the work is completed, my wife and I can say that we absolutely made the right choice in selecting the Grossi Company. Throughout the project, Steve kept us posted every step of the way relative to progress and any issues or changes. The entire process was exceptionally well-run and on budget (with the exception of several “add-ons” we threw in) and, obviously as important, of the highest quality. Each of the subcontractors involved – carpenter, electrician, plumbers, HVAC – were very professional. Most importantly, Steve Grossi and/or Nick Grossi were on the site every day managing those subcontractors and doing much of the work themselves – they could not have been more “hands-on”, which meant everything to us. They didn’t just come by at the end of the day to check on the work, Steve was there all day, working side by side with the “subs”. The finishing work - done almost exclusively by Steve and Nick themselves - is the best I have seen in terms of both quality and creativity and is a big reason we love our “new” house today. Steve made several recommendations relative to trim work as we went along and we very quickly learned to take his advice and recommendations. In addition, even though we moved back into the house two months ago, Steve has called several times to check on things and has come by the house at least twice to do some “extra” work that we had not even expected.
We had heard it said that if, after a major build or renovation you are still speaking to your contractor, it was a good situation. We are not only speaking with him, but have come to consider Steve, Nick and Scott good friends and are glad to write the strongest of endorsements for Louis J. Grossi Company.Dave & "Sam" Testa - Pittsford, NY
My family recently moved from our home of many years to a ranch townhome nearby -- in large part to better meet the needs of our son who is wheelchair-dependent. We needed to add space into his bathroom and make the room wheelchair/shower chair accessible in all respects. A neighbor recommended Steve and his team to us. Upon meeting, Steve and Scott were able to understand our requirements and transform them into exactly what our son requires. In addition, we needed to finish about 650 square feet of basement space into a living room and additional bedroom. Steve and his team came up with a design that overcame space restrictions and code requirements and at the same time met our layout and cost objectives. Steve, Scott, and their subcontractors did great work and corrected any small issues without delay. In addition, Steve kept the job moving on schedule and met the contract terms in all respects. He was always professional, accessible, and responsive. We would recommend them without hesitation to others looking for remodeling/building work.

Finding a general contractor for a multi-room home improvement project can be a daunting task. After interviewing Steve Grossi we knew we had found the right general contractor. Our renovation was complicated as it involved turning a screened porch into a sunroom, installation of a wet bar area, expansion/tear-out/ installation of a completely new kitchen with new window and door openings. We chose Grossi on his numerous jobs in our area and excellent references.
We were not disappointed. The project was completed on time and on budget. The working relationship with our kitchen designer and cabinet installers was seamless. Grossi and all his fabulous subcontractors were meticulous, detail oriented, considerate of homeowner and pets, punctual and made sure the work area was clean and tidy at the end of each day.
Steve and Scott were always thoughtful in their idea suggestions, very accessible and in constant communication as the job progressed. They were also amenable to changes we requested which varied from the original plan.
We highly recommend them to anyone looking for a general contractor, and we will definitely hire them for any future projects.Joe & Wendy - Pittsford, NY
Dear Steve,
Greg and I just wanted to thank you and your brother Nick, and Scott Ehle for making our two home remodeling and new construction projects over this past year an enjoyable experience. We were so pleased with the whole experience from beginning to end. From the first time we met with you and Scott, thru the proposal stage, the ordering materials stage, to actually starting the projects, and then the completion of our two projects on time, it was a great experience.
We are so pleased with the craftsmanship of our first project with the total remodel of our front room and the addition of the new gas fireplace and the incredible built-ins that you built from floor to ceiling. Anyone of our friends and family that have seen that room have said that it looks like it is from the pages of Southern Living or Better Homes and Gardens magazine. You did a fantastic job. Also, all of your subs were very professional and personable, Tracy, from Morse, Sash & Door with her design, Billy with the wood floors, to Mitch the electrician, and Kurt the painter, to Angela at Fireplace Fashions. We use this room now all the time.
Our second project that you just recently completed was the addition to the back of our house. It looks like it is from the pages of Log Cabin magazine. We love our new Adirondack Room. You and Scott, along with all of your suppliers and subs made a dream come true for us. We worked with Jim Fahey, the architect, to design this room and he blended it so nicely from our current family room with the new glass French doors. There were so many great craftsmen that worked alongside of you on this project.
We cannot thank enough Ted Dolan, the framer and also deck builder, George, the mason who built our gorgeous stone wood burning fireplace, Rick, from Morse Sash & Door with his help on windows, French doors and hardware, as well as the wood for the ceiling, Billy, on the barn wood floor, and Jason the painter with all his hours meticulously staining the ceiling and windows and doors, Mitch, the electrician, especially with him and Scott Ehle hanging the very large Adirondack chandelier from the 18 ft ceiling! We also appreciate that you worked with our HVAC company-Air-Quip. We have been enjoying this winter our own”Adirondack ski lodge room” with the wood burning fireplace. Thank you again Steve and Scott for making this project an enjoyable experience from beginning to end. Also, an extra big thanks to you, Scott, and Mitch for hanging up high on the fireplace “Molson” our moose head. WE absolutely love this room from floor to ceiling!!
